Caricature event for OCBC Premier Banking at Reflections@Keppel

It was a posh but relaxing experience for me to be doing caricatures at a Christmas party for the highly-valued customers of Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC premier banking clients). The party was held at the showroom of Reflections@Keppel, the upcoming prestigious waterfront condominium designed by famous architect, Daniel Libeskind. There were LIVE jazz band, singer crooning softly, free-flowing of premium red and white French wines, and the service of three caricaturists (Wilson, Kamal and myself) who each wore a colourful beret provided by the event planners. The guests were having a good time and so did we. Overall, it was a great assignment for all of us.

Family Night Outing at Orchard Road

Filed under: Family — by flowerism @ 11:44 am

It’s a family practice that every year, we will head down to Orchard Road to view the Christmas Lightings and also to have some snap-shots taken with the night scenery. This year, it is a handful for me as I am a mother of two now, with two boys fighting for attention. Hmm… ask me what’s my christmas wishes and I will tell you this: give me two more kids in years to come! :)

Angela came back for X’mas

Filed under: Family — by flowerism @ 9:42 am

Our dear friend and ex-colleague, Angela Ho is back from United Kingdom for winter vacation. Bel, Jamie, June and Eddino came to our house to have lunch and tea-time with her. Angela bought lots of presents for us. I especially like the chocolate-flavoured lip-gloss and the chintz-patterned flower pouch she bought for me. Angela also bought a nice CARS (Walt Disney’s animation movie) colouring book for Mahsuri and a donkey picture book for Budiman. Mahsuri enjoyed playing games with her. Jamie even teased her of qualifying as a nanny for me and June’s future child. We had a great time eating and chit-chatting. Kamal and I are looking forward to her return next September in 2008.

Caricature event for Techno Associe (S) Pte Ltd 30th Anniversary Dinner and Dance

Filed under: Art, Caricature — by flowerism @ 11:12 am

For this company dinner, I did 60 caricature faces in an hour! The caricatures done here are on smaller and simpler format because they are done for making into keychains. My speed is about 1 min for each person. The bosses of the company are Japanese. They are very friendly and candid to the drawings. It was fun drawing them.

Corporate caricature for Huntsman Pte Ltd

Filed under: Art, Caricature — by flowerism @ 4:20 am

One night, as I was busy helping Kamal with colouring for the ABN-Amro caricatures, I received a call from my dear friend Siow Peng who whilst taking the MRT home, overheard a girl’s conversation on the phone with a colleague about her problems looking for a caricaturist to do a drawing for her boss. Out of goodwill, Siow Peng candidly approached the stranger and told her about this great caricaturist friend of hers. The next day, that girl called me and we are on. It was an A2 size black and white caricature drawing of 28 persons in her department including the boss who is leaving the company. She needed it rather urgently so I rushed the drawing in 2 days. It depicted the two other bosses trying to prevent the parting boss from poaching all the staff. When she received it, she was full of praises. Here’s the photos of the finished artwork and the process sketch. Studio work requires some planning through rough sketches unlike live work where I draw very fast, directly with a marker. Some word-of-mouth marketing indeed – Thank you Siow Peng.

Caricature event for Ang Mo kio Secondary Prom Night

Filed under: Art, Caricature, Teach — by flowerism @ 5:48 pm

Kids are lucky nowadays…After their ‘O’ level exams, some schools will organise prom nights for their students. I remember during my time in the late 80s, we do not have such a privilege. Here are two photos of my works in the prom night pre-dinner event for Ang Mo Kio Secondary School at Conrad Centennial hotel.

Kamal’s 40th Birthday Celebration

Filed under: Family — by flowerism @ 4:11 pm

We celebrated Kamal’s birthday at our place. Just my immediate family and us. The kids were thrilled as they get to taste three different types of cakes: 2 birthday cakes bought by my mom and my younger brother, and 40 cupcakes made by my youngest sister.
